Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquefolia) like many in the Ranunculaceae or the buttercup family are some of the first wildflowers to dot the landscape whether it be in prairies, wetlands, or in the Wood Anemone’s case, woodlands.   We tend to think of buttercups as yellow of course, but Wood Anemones are white to reddish, and Sharp-lobed Hepaticas are blueish for example.
